Early Years SENCO Day
Early Years SENCO Day takes place on 9 October 2026, celebrating the vital role of Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) in early childhood education.
9 October 2026
Early Years SENCO Day is a moment to recognise the people who work tirelessly to ensure every child is seen, understood and supported. At Aspire, our SENCOs play a vital role in shaping inclusive, nurturing environments where children with additional needs can thrive. Their work is thoughtful, skilled and deeply compassionate, and it touches the lives of some of the most vulnerable children who attend our settings.
SENCOs bring a unique blend of expertise and empathy to their practice. They observe carefully, listen closely and work alongside families to understand each child’s strengths, challenges and ways of communicating. Their guidance helps practitioners adapt routines, shape learning experiences and create spaces where children feel safe, confident and ready to explore. This quiet, consistent support often makes the difference between a child feeling overwhelmed and a child feeling able to join in, connect and grow.

Across our settings, inclusion is not an add‑on; it is woven into everyday practice. Last year, every Aspire setting was awarded Early Years Inclusion Champion status, recognising the commitment our teams show to ensuring children with additional needs receive high‑quality, responsive support. This achievement reflects the dedication of our SENCOs, but also the collective effort of all early years practitioners who work together to create environments where every child is welcomed and valued.
Early Years SENCO Day is also a chance to acknowledge the emotional labour behind this work. Supporting children with complex needs requires patience, creativity and resilience. It involves advocating for children, navigating systems and holding families through challenging moments. Our SENCOs do this with professionalism and kindness, ensuring that inclusion is not just a principle but a lived experience for every child.
Today, we want to say thank you. Thank you to our SENCOs for your expertise, your commitment and your unwavering belief in every child’s potential. And thank you to all early years practitioners across Aspire who work alongside them, ensuring that our settings remain places of safety, joy and belonging.
