Who Is Our Family Support Service For?
Aspire Foundation’s Family Support Service is here for any parent, carer, or child who may benefit from early help, guidance, or a friendly space to talk. We work with families across Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, offering support through our Children and Family Centres, home visits, groups, and drop‑in sessions. Our service is part of the Early Help offer in Gloucestershire, which means we focus on identifying challenges early and providing the right support before difficulties grow.
Families come to us for many different reasons - some need a one‑off conversation, others want ongoing guidance, and some simply want to connect with their community. Whatever your situation, our team is here to help.
Parents and Carers Seeking Support
Many parents and carers reach out because they want advice, reassurance, or practical strategies to help with everyday family life. Parenting can be joyful, but it can also be challenging, and it’s completely normal to need support along the way.
We support parents and carers who may be:
-
Feeling overwhelmed or unsure where to turn
-
Looking for help with routines, boundaries, or behaviour
-
Wanting to strengthen relationships within the family
-
Managing changes such as separation, new siblings, or school transitions
-
Seeking emotional support for themselves or their children
Our team offers a safe, confidential space to talk openly about what’s happening at home. Whether you need parenting support, signposting, or someone to listen, we’re here to help you feel more confident and supported.
Children Aged 0–11
Our service is designed to support children from birth to age 11. We work directly with children when appropriate, helping them understand their feelings, build resilience, and develop positive coping strategies.
Children may benefit from support if they are:
-
Struggling with emotions or behaviour
-
Finding routines difficult
-
Experiencing changes at home or school
-
Feeling anxious, withdrawn, or overwhelmed
-
Needing help with social or emotional development
Our Family Support Workers and Community Family Workers use child‑centred approaches to help children feel heard, understood, and supported. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure children receive consistent, nurturing support both at home and in the community.
Expectant Parents
Pregnancy can be an exciting time, but it can also bring questions, worries, and big changes. Our service is here for expectant parents who want support as they prepare for their baby’s arrival.
We can help with:
-
Understanding your baby’s early development
-
Preparing emotionally and practically for parenthood
-
Building routines and confidence
-
Connecting with local groups and services
-
Reducing feelings of isolation
Expectant parents often find our groups and drop‑ins especially helpful, as they offer a chance to meet other families and build a support network before the baby arrives.
Families Experiencing Challenges
Some families come to us because they are facing specific challenges that are affecting daily life. These may include:
-
Behaviour concerns
-
Sleep difficulties
-
Weaning and feeding worries
-
Emotional wellbeing
-
Routines and boundaries
-
Social isolation
-
Relationship changes
-
Housing or financial pressures
-
School‑related concerns
Our team works alongside families to understand what’s happening, agree goals together, and create a plan that feels manageable and supportive. We can also help coordinate other agencies around the family, ensuring everyone is working together to meet the child’s needs.
No challenge is too small — if something is affecting your family’s wellbeing, we are here to help.
“There’s no judgement — just real support.” (Extracted from the longer testimonial.)
Professionals Working With Families
We also support professionals who may be concerned about a child or family they are working with. Teachers, health visitors, early years practitioners, social workers, and community organisations can all make a request for support through the Early Help front door.
Professionals often refer families who:
-
Need coordinated support from multiple services
-
Would benefit from targeted family support
-
Are experiencing challenges that require early intervention
-
Need help accessing local groups, parenting support, or community resources
We work collaboratively with professionals to ensure families receive timely, appropriate support that reflects their needs and strengths.
Families Needing One‑Off or Ongoing Support
Not every family needs long‑term support — and that’s absolutely fine. Many parents simply want a quick conversation, a bit of reassurance, or advice on a specific issue. Others may benefit from more regular contact or structured support.
We offer:
-
One‑off conversations at drop‑ins
-
Short‑term guidance for specific challenges
-
Ongoing support for more complex needs
-
Group‑based support through parenting courses and activities
-
Home visits where appropriate
-
Signposting to specialist services
Families can choose the level of support that feels right for them.
Open Access for All Families
One of the strengths of our service is that many of our groups, activities, and drop‑ins are open to everyone. You do not need a referral to attend our Coffee & Chat sessions or most of our centre‑based groups.
This means families can:
-
Meet other parents
-
Ask questions
-
Learn about local services
-
Access support without any formal process
We believe that support should be accessible, welcoming, and free from barriers — and our open access sessions reflect that commitment.
A Welcoming Service for Every Family
Whether you are a first‑time parent, caring for multiple children, navigating a difficult time, or simply looking for connection, Aspire Foundation is here for you. Our service is inclusive, non‑judgemental, and designed to meet families where they are.
If you’re unsure whether our service is right for you, we encourage you to come along to a drop‑in session or contact your local Children and Family Centre. A friendly member of our team will be happy to talk through your situation and help you find the support that fits your needs.
